We Dance Upon Demons

Started off kind of cute and fun and very quickly became extremely bland. I found the writing clunky or confusing, to the point where sometimes I wasn't sure who was speaking in scenes (I remain unclear who one of the people at the Gala was related to). Then the nothing started happening, except for our main character every once in a while "using my magic" with no exploration of how she was doing it or becoming proficient or whatever. 2 characters were introduced to either be amazing secret allies or amazing secret opponents, and I realized at the halfway mark that and I didn't care whether it was going to come out the way our heroine thought or whether there was going to be a surprising twist.
