Denison Avenue

Book cover for Denison Avenue

Read in e-book form, not paper, which I assume would be a better experience. I think I lost out some on the illustrations and also the intentional formatting of the prose.

A slow book, and poignant. I felt for Cho Sum, and was drawn in by the phonetic Toisan throughout, which I was able to read to a close acquaintance whose father was a native Toisan speaker, my contact (who is also reading the book) seemed to enjoy hearing the phrases (and confirming what they meant), and also reading them in their own time.

Anyhow, an engaging meditation on loss of loved ones, of language, and of history. Recommended.
