Chocolate Gingerbread

5 oz butter melt whisk whisk beat beat pour bake at 350°F about 45 minutes
1½ c molasses
1 t ground cinnamon
2 t ground ginger
½ t ground cloves
¼ t allspice
1¼ t baking soda dissolve
2 t water
1 c milk  
2 eggs
2¼ c flour whisk
¾ c cocoa
1 c chocolate chips (optional)  
1 c chopped nuts (optional)
  1. Line a 9″×13″ pan with parchment paper or grease it well.
  2. Melt the butter, molasses, and spices together.
  3. Whisk well and remove from heat.
  4. Whisk eggs, milk, and baking soda-water mixture into molasses mixture.
  5. Whisk flour and cocoa together.
  6. Beat flour and cocoa into liquid.
  7. Beat chocolate chips and nuts (if using) into batter.
  8. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  9. Bake at 350°F until set, maybe 45 minutes. Watch it.
