Dave and Kate's Remarkable Brownies

8 T (1 stick / 115 g) unsalted butter melt stir until melted mix mix mix mix mix mix bake 30 minutes at 325°F (160°C)
4 oz (115 g) unsweetened chocolate, chopped  
1 c (200 g) sugar  
2 large eggs  
½ t vanilla extract  
6 T (50 g) all-purpose flour stir
¼ t salt
¾ (100 g) walnuts or pecans, toasted and chopped  
½ c (70 g) semisweet chocolate chips  
  1. Butter an 8″ (20 cm) square cake pan and lightly dust it with flour, tapping out any excess.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter.
  3. Add the chopped chocolate and stir over low heat until melted.
  4. Remove from the heat and mix in the sugar, then eggs and vanilla.
  5. Stir in the flour and salt, then the nuts and chocolate chips.
  6. Scrape the brownie mixture into the prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes at bake 30 minutes at 325°F (160°C)
  7. Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack.

Makes about 16 brownies.
